Minerals & Metals Sampling Instructions (Opaque Bottles)

•Remove any screens or aerators from the fixture if present.

• Turn the cold water tap on and allow it to run 5-10 minutes

o Note: If the well has been sitting dormant for a period of time, the water in the well should be flushed for at least 30 minutes to an hour before sampling.

• Fill opaque bottles to the neck. If there is not sufficient sample volume, your sample may be rejected.

• Please return the sample to the lab within 24 hours of sampling.

Bacteria Sampling Instructions (Clear Bottle)

• Remove any screens or aerators from the fixture.

• Sterilize the end of the faucet by immersing it in a capful of bleach or isopropyl alcohol for about 30 seconds.

• Turn the cold water tap on and allow it to run 5-10 minutes o Note: If the well has been sitting dormant for a period of time, the water in the well should be flushed for at least 30 minutes to an hour before sampling.

• Place the bottle under the faucet and fill the bottle to the neck. If there is not sufficient sample volume, your sample may be rejected.

• Return the sample to the lab within 24 hours of sampling.
